Scenario
Scene 1 (Front windshield view) – 1 minute
The scene opens with the camera filming the front window very close to Vivian’s face. As Vivian turns the key, she bounces slightly in her seat, the sound of the engine cranking blending with a few pumps. The battery is weak. Vivian leans forward and back repeatedly as she keeps trying to start the car. After a minute, the camera pauses.
Scene 2 (Bedroom) – 1 minute
The scene opens from the point of view of her stepson (camera), lying in bed and facing the bedroom door. Vivian knocks twice before gently pushing the door open and stepping inside the room. She smiles and softly says, “Hey, honey,” as she walks over to the bed. Leaning down, she tucks the blanket around him to make sure he’s comfortable. As she adjusts the covers, she adds warmly, “The car won’t start again. I’ll wait a few moments and try again to see if it wants to start so I can head to work. I’ll see you in a couple hours ok?” She gives him a gentle smile, then stands up and turns to leave. The camera films at her as she walks toward the door and quietly exits the room. The camera pauses.
Notes: For the scene, her tone should sound natural—no need to include anything extra
Scene 3 (Leg view only) – 1 minute
The scene opens with the camera filming Vivian’s right leg. Vivian is already seated in the car. The camera focuses solely on her right leg as she pumps the gas pedal a couple of times. Each time, she presses down and holds for a moment before trying again. Her boot is visible, along with a glimpse of bare skin at its edge. The engine refuses to start, the battery struggling with a weak, fading sound. In the background, her soft whisper breaks the silence: “Let’s go, start”. After a few more tries, the camera pauses.
Notes: For the scene, her tone should be calm and natural. She doesn’t sound angry or worried—just composed and at ease.
Camera angle view for the entire scene with the camera focusing on Vivian’s right leg and boots. We can see some bare skin and the boot.
Scene 4 (inside the house) – 1 minute
The scene opens in a quiet bedroom. The stepson (camera) slowly sits up in bed, then stands up. He makes his way out of the room, heading toward a small table near the kitchen entrance. There, beside a neatly folded napkin, he spots a handwritten note. The camera gently zooms in on the message.
The note reads:
“Sweetheart, I left for work. There’s breakfast in the kitchen and juice in the fridge if you are hungry. . – Vivian.” (if possible. If not, you can simulate he is reading the note)
The camera lingers on the note for a moment, then holds still in silence. Fade out.
Scene 5 (Vivian’s face view) – 1 minute
The scene picks up inside the car, with the camera angled slightly below and to the side of the steering wheel, focused on Vivian’s face. As she cranks the engine, she holds the ignition key firmly, her expressions revealing a mix of concentration and quiet determination. At one point, she pauses, then leans slightly forward, trying to get closer to the steering wheel—as if willing the car to respond. After a brief moment, she resumes cranking. She begins to bounce slightly in her seat, her movements subtle but restless. As she cranks, she leans forward again, then shifts back to her normal position. She repeats this motion several times. Then, the camera pauses.
Scene 6 (Behind the car) – 1 minute
The scene resumes with the stepson (camera) stepping out of the house. From a distance, he begins walking toward the car, gradually approaching from behind. As he nears the vehicle, he catches sight of Vivian’s head from the back—slightly bobbing as she bounces in her seat, still trying to start the engine. The car continues to crank weakly, the battery clearly fading. Vivian remains focused, turning the key again and again, unaware that her stepson is quietly watching from behind.
Scene 7 (Checking under the car hood) – 1 minute
Vivian steps out of the car and notices her nephew behind the camera. Smiling, she says, “Well, looks like you’re finally up. Guess what? I am still struggling to start the car. Let me take a look under the hood.” She then lifts the hood and shifts into position, with her nephew observing her from behind. The shot can be framed from the right side, near the driver’s door.
Scene 8 (Front windshield view) – 1 minute
Vivian steps back into the car. As she settles in, she says to her nephew, “Alright, let’s see if this thing will start.” Her nephew (camera) moves to the front of the car, where he can see her face through the windshield again. As Vivian turns the key, she bounces slightly in her seat, and the sound of the engine cranking mixes with a few pumps. She leans forward and back repeatedly while trying to start the car. During the process, she flashes a few playful smiles at her nephew, which he catches from his spot in front of the windshield.
Scene 9 (Back seat view) – 1 minute
Vivian keeps cranking the engine, stretching her leg as she does. The car refuses to start. Frustrated, she repeats several times, “C’mon, start for me!” Then she rolls down the driver’s window and tells her nephew, “See! I told you!” After that, she returns to cranking, but the car still won’t start. At one point, she pauses, leans down as if to adjust the seat, then resumes trying to crank the car again.
Scene 10 (Passenger view) – 1 minute
The camera shifts to the passenger-side view, capturing Vivian’s frustration as she struggles to start the car. She keeps turning the key, but it refuses to start. Desperate, she pleads softly, “C’mon, please start.”
