They’re done gassing up the car and head out again. Brooke is driving the old beast with her bare feet while Jane rides with a seat belt that does nothing. Brooke isn’t driving too fast, so she should be alright…but let’s not test it.
As they’re just about to pull into Brooke’s driveway, the car makes an odd sound and then dies. She’s coasting still and realizes this as you hear the electric fuel pump whining in the background. She brings the car to a gentle stop right in front of her driveway.
