Jane is standing outside the car waiting for Vivian to get out because it’s Jane’s turn to drive.
“Get out, I’m driving! I’m driving!” Jane says to Vivian, jokingly, as the girls swap in the parking lot of the parts store. Jane puts the key into the ignition, pumps the gas a few times and turns it over expecting to hear that roar of the engine buuuuuut not quite. She’s pumping the gas pedal with her white Keds and quietly coaxing the car to start. After a little more struggling, the car coughs to life. She gives it a few romps before backing out of the parking spot.
She has to wait a moment before traffic is clear to pull out on the main road, which she does — like a normal person would. After a few seconds, she quickly lifts her foot up and then mashes it down, hammering that pedal to the floor! The car kicks down a gear and roars to life as she keeps the pedal pinned for a few seconds before having to slow down. She waits a moment then does it again. Yeah baby!
She has to wait a while before traffic opens up enough where she can hammer it down to the floor and hold the pedal on the floorboard, pinned underneath her using her tippy-toes to squeeze every bit of throttle from the pedal.
Ugh, damn traffic!
